IWU’s Occupational Therapy Doctorate Program Earns 10-Year Reaccreditation, Achieves 100% Board Exam Pass Rate

Marion, Ind. (Oct. 28, 2025) – Indiana Wesleyan University’s Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) Program is proud to announce two significant achievements that affirm the program’s commitment to excellence in education and student success.

Following a comprehensive evaluation by the Accreditation Council for Occupational Therapy Education (ACOTE), the OTD program has been awarded a 10-year reaccreditation, the maximum period granted. The review process included an on-site survey in May 2025 and August 2025. Notably, the review revealed no areas of deficiencies or noncompliance, underscoring the program’s quality and integrity.

ACOTE recognized the OTD program for its immersive global engagement experience which, they noted in their report, “enhances cultural competence, promotes self-awareness of personal biases, and builds clinical skills.” They also acknowledged the program for its clinical anatomy course, observing that it is “both clinically relevant and respectful, reinforcing the humanistic and ethical principles essential to practice.”

ACOTE suggested that the program should explore avenues to utilize other available campus resources, like patient simulations, to “enhance clinical experiences and expand interprofessional collaborative opportunities for all students.”

In addition, the program celebrates a 100% first-time pass rate on the National Board Certification for Occupational Therapy (NBCOT) Exam. This accomplishment highlights both the dedication of IWU’s students and the commitment of its world-class faculty to preparing graduates for impactful careers in occupational therapy.

“Accreditation assures students, families, and the public that our program has met the highest standards of performance, integrity, and quality,” said Melissa Khosla, program director for the OTD Program. “Coupled with a 100% NBCOT pass rate, these achievements reflect the extraordinary commitment of our faculty and students to excellence in education and professional practice.”

Situated on IWU’s Marion campus, the OTD program equips students with the knowledge, skills, and clinical experiences needed to thrive in today’s healthcare environment. These recent accomplishments reaffirm IWU’s mission to develop students in character, scholarship, and leadership, preparing them to make a difference in the world through compassionate and competent care.
