Faculty Profile
Dr. Sharon Loza is the Program Director and Assistant Professor in the Psychology and Human Services program. She received her bachelor of arts in psychology and French in and master’s in early childhood intervention and family support from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, a master’s in liberal arts from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro, and a doctor of philosophy in leadership, policy, and human development from North Carolina State University.
Sharon’s career spans over 25 years working both domestically and globally. She has worked as research investigator, implementation specialist, technical assistance provider, consultant, and project director on small and large-scale initiatives supporting health, education and well-being initiatives. Further to this, she has held senior leadership positions in the state and federal government supporting large human services programs, as well as served as a consultant with UNICEF to enhance ministerial program and policy efforts to improve health and educational outcomes for the most vulnerable and marginalized communities in developing countries. Sharon also has four years of online teaching experience at the bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral level for programs in psychology, public health, and education.
