Associate Professor
Dr. Barnard holds two Bachelors of Music degrees in Music Therapy and Vocal Performance, a Master of Music in Music Therapy, and a doctorate in educational psychology with an emphasis in child and adolescent development. Her clinical experience includes the NICU, early childhood, and hospice. Her professional interests include research into the areas of music and development, Fetal Alcohol Spectrum Disorder, executive functioning, and the effect of music on infants with neonatal abstinence syndrome.
In both the classroom and clinical settings, Dr. Barnard emphasizes intentionality, creativity, and adaptability, equipping students with practical skills for diverse therapeutic environments.
Professor Barnard continues to serve as a clinician and presenter in the field of music therapy, as well as performing as opportunities present themselves.
