Division of Mathematics, Engineering and Computer Science

Ph.D.

Dr. Joshua C. Nwokeji is the Clapp Endowed Chair and Associate Professor of Computer Science at Indiana Wesleyan University, where he also directs the AI and Computational Lab. His current research focuses on the application of Large Language Models (LLMs) and Generative Artificial Intelligence (Gen-AI) in Human–Computer Interaction (HCI), Computing Education, and Cybersecurity. He is deeply committed to exploring how emerging AI technologies can enhance user experience, promote data security, and transform the way students learn and interact with intelligent systems.

Before joining Indiana Wesleyan, Dr. Nwokeji held tenured position as Associate Professor of Computer and Information Science at Gannon University in Pennsylvania. He also served in several key leadership roles in Gannon University, including Chairperson of the Institutional Review Board (IRB), Graduate Program Director for the Computer and Information Science programs with over 350 students, and Chairperson of the Graduate Council, overseeing more than 30 graduate programs across disciplines. Dr. Nwokeji’s earlier scholarly work spans multidisciplinary research in Natural Language Processing (NLP), Computing and Engineering Education, Data Management, Requirements Engineering, and Enterprise and Model-Based Engineering.

In the professional community, he has made significant service contributions—serving as Co-Editor of two Special Issues of the IEEE Transactions on Education (2021–2023), Junior Technical Program Chair for the Frontiers in Education (FIE) 2021 Conference, Senior Technical Program Chair for FIE 2022, and as a long-standing Program Committee Member for the International Conference on Enterprise Information Systems (2017–2024).

Beyond academia, Dr. Nwokeji is an entrepreneur and innovator. He is the founder of SlayResume.net, an AI-powered resume optimization platform designed to help college students enhance their job placement outcomes. Also he is the founder of SubmitIRB.com, an Institutional Review Board management system tailored to support smaller and medium sized universities across the United States.
