Greg was born and raised in Ottawa, Illinois—a small town in the Illinois River Valley. He studied English at Marion College and Western Illinois University.  Romano joined the faculty of the Modern Language, Literature and Communication Department in 2024.

Romano has worked in corporate communications as a newspaper reporter, newsletter editor, magazine staff member, publications director and technical writer.

He then transitioned into higher education. He has taught English for Indiana University East, Indiana University Kokomo, Ball State University, The Indiana Academy for the Arts and Sciences, and Ivy Tech Community College.

For 25 years Romano worked in the concert industry. During his tenure with Live Nation, Romano worked at two Indianapolis venues (Deer Creek Music Center—also known as Verizon Wireless Music Center, and Klipsch Music Center) and the Murat Music Center.  For six years, Romano was the Theater Supervisor for the Foellinger Theater in Fort Wayne, Indiana.  He ended his time in live music in 2024 having worked an estimated 800 concerts.
