Faculty Profile
After 37 years of practicing engineering for the U.S. Navy and Defense Logistics Agency, Dr. Winyard now teaches as a second career. A “recovering engineer,” he is especially interested in how Christianity and technology relate. He received a Ph.D. in Science and Technology Studies from Virginia Tech in 2016. His MSME was from the University of Rochester, and his BSME was from the University of Maryland. His expertise is in thermal-fluid sciences and engineering.
Dr. Winyard was the founding faculty member of Mount Vernon Nazarene University’s engineering program in Mount Vernon, Ohio. He most recently taught mechanical engineering courses at Grace College in Winona Lake, Indiana. Some of the books he authored include “Shore to Shore: A Father-and-son Journey Across America.”
With Traci, his wife of 40 years, he has three married children, five grandchildren, and a playful cat. He enjoys cycling, woodworking, music, reading, and writing.
